Las Cruces Council Meeting - February 18 , 2025

The city’s minutes for this meeting were compared, sentence by sentence, against the transcript of the recording. Of 111 statements the minutes attribute to a named person, 110 were found in the recording.

Tracks the recording closely. The comparison is mechanical and has no opinion about why two documents differ. A gap can be honest summarising; a mismatch can be the caption software mishearing. Both texts are shown so you can decide, and the correction form at the bottom is there for when the machine is wrong.

Missing from the minutes

This part of the meeting left no trace in the written record. This stretch of the meeting is not reflected anywhere in the written record. Some gaps are legitimate — recesses, or a presentation summarised in one line. Others are discussion that simply did not make it in. 1 person introduce themselves by name inside this gap. It contains: “investigation”, “resign”, “contamination”, “cancer”, “condemnation”.

What the minutes say

Nothing — this passage is absent from the minutes.

Chris Faivre: a negation on the recording is missing from the minutes (“don't”)

Says something different

Both records carry the same sentence, but they disagree on a number or on whether it was negative. The same sentence appears in both records, but the recording contains “don't” where the minutes have nothing — which reverses its sense. Around: “in the public so that if you miss it one month it is”.

What the minutes say

Chris Faivre said it is going to be an ongoing process. I think the big thing is to let them know that they can come to the Community Development Department for answers to figure out what those particular questions are. We are not going to be able to anticipate all of them. We will try and create as much material as we can once this is adopted. We will definitely work with the city’s Communications Department to do an ongoing social media campaign that may be able to identify some of those key issues and just keep it up there just circulating on social media for a period of time so that people see. I can see the casitas one, the one about the carports. Those kinds of things we can just kind of keep it out there in the public so that if you miss it one month it is still available on social media down the road so we will try and take advantage of all the resources we have available to us to get the message out.
